There's something wonderfully unhurried about the kererū. One moment it's gliding effortlessly through the treetops, the next it's perched proudly in a kōwhai or fruiting tree, looking as though it hasn't got a care in the world.

This design is part of my Stained Glass Collection – a series that reimagines some of New Zealand's most iconic flora, fauna and landscapes through the colourful, light-filled beauty of stained glass.

The kererū's iridescent plumage and distinctive silhouette have been transformed into a vibrant stained glass-inspired artwork, celebrating one of Aotearoa's most recognisable native birds. It's a colourful tribute to a bird that plays an essential role in our native forests and has become a much-loved Kiwi character.
