Matai Bay has that effect. Before you even reach the sand, you're greeted by the sight of dune grasses swaying in the breeze, a gently curving beach, and calm turquoise water stretching out between the surrounding headlands. It's peaceful, unhurried, and quietly beautiful.

This print is part of my Scenic Series, inspired by the places around New Zealand that stay with us long after we've packed the car and headed home. The beaches, towns and landscapes that become part of our own story.

Rather than trying to capture every detail, I wanted to focus on the feeling of arriving here. Looking across the bay from the dunes, your eye follows the shoreline to the rocky outcrop before drifting out across the water. It's a simple composition, but that's exactly what makes Matai Bay so memorable.
