Flying fish are already one of nature's more remarkable sights, but what if they were a little more... New Zealand?

Native Flyers imagines a school of flying fish inspired by some of Aotearoa's best-known native birds. Look closely and you'll spot the familiar colours and markings of the Kōtare (Kingfisher), Tūī, Kererū and Pīwakawaka (Fantail) cleverly reimagined on fish as they glide effortlessly through the air.

It's one of those artworks that rewards a second look. At first you see fish. Then you notice the feathers, colours and personalities of some of New Zealand's most iconic birds, brought together in an unexpected and playful visual twist.
